Clinical Counselling with Vanessa Coady

Vanessa Coady

Registered Massage Therapist & Registered Clinical Counsellor

The world can sometimes be an overwhelming place. When things outside of our control impact our life, it sometimes feels like our emotions go out of control too. At other times, what we feel inside can make even the smallest tasks seem completely insurmountable. Perhaps it’s time to take a step onto a new life path and you aren’t sure how to start, or you have something important to tell your loved ones and you’re afraid of how they’ll react.

My name is Vanessa, and I’ve felt this way too. But emotions can change, and how we feel doesn’t have to control how we behave. Change can come in the form of learning new strategies, offering ourselves love and compassion, or simply venting to an empathetic listening ear. There are ways to feel and to be different, and you don’t have to struggle alone.

I’m a graduate from the Masters of Counselling Psychology program at the University of British Columbia, and a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. I’m also a Registered Massage Therapist out of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, and believe strongly that our thoughts, emotions, and life stressors manifest themselves in our body, and vice versa.

My Approach...

My approach to clinical counselling therapy involves the use of CBT, Solution Focused, Mindfulness, EMDR, somatic (body oriented), and embodying approaches such as role play and empty chair techniques. I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life, particularly people transitioning between lifepaths and LGBTQ+ individuals. Most importantly, my work is person centered, and our work together will be collaborative and driven by your goals, values, and needs.
